if I were to do it again, I would have done just what everyone else is recommending this far - WP and CP. If for nothing else, it relieves you of trying to loosen that God-awful alternator pulley nut. It was horrific - I would up using a cut section of old belt and vise grips for a makeshift strap wrench. Aside from my water pump failure (unrelated to the pulley install), the only issue thus far is slight squealing of the alternator belt at startup. Also, my water pump failure, and subsequent need to remove the UR crank pulley, highlighted that it’s not the easiest to remove. A better puller would surely help, but I would up rigging something up with the HF pullers that I have. I used craft sticks to jam the puller claws against the inside of the pulley (you can’t pull on the outside of the pulley…at least I couldn’t). All said, I probably could have found somewhere better to spend $300.
